HAN HASSLES ALL
HAN is getting back to form! He used to have a 14 handicap and is only 2 points away from that. Two bogies on 16th and 17th and a double bogie 7 on the 18th hole par 5 spoiled his chances to shoot in the 70’s but no one could touch him with a net 65 at Point Roberts.
In fact, he was playing so well he was even par after 7 holes after getting two birdies on both par 5’s (#3 and #5). A triple bogie on the par 3 8th hole ended up to be his only mistake going out at 39.
CHANG (hj) was quite his usual steady self with a 76 to take 2nd place. He, too, had two birdies to his credit. Again, like Han, the 8th hole par 3 resulted in a double bogie for a 1-over par 37.
HIDE and ED were shut out of the birdie hunt and were nowhere in sight.
On the 14th hole a couple of friendly deer were out for a stroll on the fairway. One of them was caught on a telephoto lens as he darted in the woods.

The two winners (Han and Chang) led the hunt with their two (2) each. Only VINCENT was the other successful hunter this week. He rolled in a 12 footer on the 12th hole.
WELCOME TO RJ!
Another septuagenarian, RJ, joined us at Point Roberts. He is Art’s junior at age 75 but boy, can he play! He started off with two pars but the course has a way of humbling many players. RJ’s game is respectable though and could shoot in the mid-80’s any day.
SURREY GOLF THIS THURSDAY, JULY 30
With the scorching midday sun, the most comfortable time to play these days is very early in the morning. Thus, we start playing at 6:58 am at the “the other Surrey” course – Surrey Golf & Country Club. Their early bird rate is $44 while North View charges $55.
Surrey GCC’s greens are “fast & furious” – much like Point Robert’s. It is one of the oldest courses in BC and offers a great challenge. Lined with mature trees, an errant shot could mean sacrificing one stroke or two. However, the par 5’s are reachable in two for those like King Kong.
They are fully booked but we managed to reserve three (3) tee times – offered to you all on a first confirmed-first served basis. Call me at 604-307-7270.
