There is nothing like “frost delay” or “temp greens” that cause pain and consternation amongst golfers. The “hunters” are no exception.

Two weeks ago, we were confident that the sun would quickly return green color to fairways and greens at Riverway. A few of us were there even before daybreak.  Unfortunately, hope was dashed when skies over Burnaby were cloud-draped. The few who limbered up at the driving range waited for a few hours but finally gave up.

A frantic call was made – “No frost delay at Point Roberts – let’s go!” Guess what, we were blessed with not only fabulous playable greens but also warm sun. You read right! Warm sun!

To top it off, Point Roberts’ Tad Nose has been quite generous to the hunters. We have been at our favorite winter golf course for more than just a case of “better than any where chance” of playing golf but also excellent green fees! Sure it is winter but $25 for a round of golf is unheard of.

BIRDIEHUNTERS all over the Map

CHANG is in Singapore. ALLAN is in Costa Rica. SONNY and GERRY are enjoying Palm Springs. They were recently joined by BILL, HOWARD, and CHANG L for a week of sunny respite. KING KONG is in New York.

Soon a formidable team of SENIOR BIRDIEHUNTERS will be gallivanting in DAVAO CITY where they will be shaping their shots on an island green and enjoying the world renown hospitality of the “Pearl of the Orient”, Philippines.

Recently announced is the Philippine Airline promo cost of the direct flight from Vancouver to Manila; Manila to Davao City. It is TOO LOW to announce here. How low? A high-season return flight to Palm Springs is much HIGHER than the special fare for more than 30 international teams participating in the PAL INTERCLUB INTERNATIONAL GOLF TOURNAMENT. That is “how low” it is!

With fabulous accommodations at our choice hotel, The Pinnacle, we are in for an outstanding GOLF HOLIDAY.

Travel arrangements have to be CONFIRMED by the first week of January, 2012. If you have not yet submitted your application, you better do it now! Our team leaves February 11, 2012 but a few are already making arrangements to be there sometime in late January.

Christmas is a celebration of the birth of the Messiah. All over the world, families gather during this sacred holiday to be with families, friends, and loved ones. That is how many of us will be celebrating the season. In the spirit of Christmas and gift-giving, EL CAPITAN produced a pictorial tribute to share. Music in the video is Mary Did You Know, a wonderful composition by Mark Lowry. He shares this with you here.
