The affable “Money Man”, ED, prevailed at Kings Links to emerge as the Birdiehunters’ British Open 2011 Champion. Although he was not as spectacular yesterday as he was
during the 1st round of the major championship, he played conservatively within his index. With his achievement he now holds the record of the “most senior hunter” to win a major.
The other “senior” in the hunt was “hole-in-one” BILL. Trailing ED by 6.8 points at 3rd place during the 1st round, BILL continue his “sizzling” play and nearly edged 2nd place winner “Sting-ray” bomber, MILES. The “youngest” of the contenders, MILES demonstrated why he has been so nicknamed. On the Par 5 14th hole, he had a drive and a pitching wedge for an easy two-putt birdie, one of only four hunted yesterday. His gross 77 claims top spot for the day earning the 2nd highest weekly prize. It was originally thought that BILL had won 1st place for the day but an audit by Anderson Anderson, CAs, reveals that an error on the scorecard had been made. A single stroke changed the players’ fortune.
Coming in 1st was MILES with a 68.3, BILL, 69.5, and ED, 72.6.
