VINCENT LAZUARDI CONTINUES HOT STREAK

With some ‘hunters’ returning from Palm Springs and others from the 63rd PAL Interclub at Bacolod City, Philippines, there was a large crowd at Riverway Golf Club on March 4.

The big guns were silenced (RORY, CHANG HJ, ED) as they could only manage an 84 amongst them and 1 birdie (Cheng HJ #8).

VINCENT, on the other hand, continued his hot PAL Interclub streak to finish in top place 7 net strokes ahead of 2nd place winner, JOHN LEE, who is now the newest accredited BirdieHunter! In an official recount and tabulation of scores, John clearly outpointed all the others to claim 2nd place all alone. (John, your next two games’ entry fees are prepaid as a result!)

As a result of his fabulous round, Vincent has passed Harry and Sunny in the handicap index department. (See latest handicap index below.)

HUNTERS CELEBRATE ACE

The chance of any amateur golfer recording a hole-in-one is estimated at 12,500-to-1 compared to 2,500-to-1 by a golf professional. The chance of a Canadian participant to record an ace over the long history of the PAL INTERCLUB (63 years) is non-existent. In fact, there is no such recorded feat by any international participant in the Interclub since international teams were first invited to join this tournament some 20 years ago.

Hence, the BirdieHunters are proud to celebrate the occasion with plenty of food and drinks after the game at Riverway.

ERNIE MENDOZA scored the hole-in-one at the 8th hole at BACOLD GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB (BGCC) (Binitin) witnessed by JESUS ARTERO of the Guam Team, and ROLLY SANTOS of the Brotherhood Sharp Team. DOMENG DUERME, PAL VP in charge of the tournament also witnessed the event as he was in the group following Ernie’s threesome.

JAKE TAN, President of BGCC confirms that there are 38 “Holes-in-One” recorded since the inception of the club and there are 8 made at this 8th hole. Our honorary news correspondent TERRY ROMILLA of PAL provides us with details. Thank you, Terry!
