THURSDAY JUNE 11 – KINGS LINKS @ 7:00 AM
The famous links course at Boundary Bay will be the site of our next birdie hunting trip. The greens are in outstanding undulating shape that will test the hunter’s great skill. With the latest smoldering summer heat, the ball will be sailing and rolling through those fairways. Even Chang “Mini Kong” Lim would be delighted playing the blues…err.. I mean, the blue tees! J
Sunny will be in Jakarta for two weeks; Peter is still in China. However, with Kiitchi Kumagai having joined the hunters, we will have ONE open spot next week…unless new hunters would want to come out and join the fun. EMAIL early to confirm you are on.
This is what confronts you on the 2nd hole at Kings Links. Long hitters may opt to carry the water hazard of the dog leg and go with a mid iron onto the tough green surrounded by bunkers. All others join me and do it the “old fashion way”: aim right; play a draw; get a 5 wood; aim right of the 150 yard marker; pitch 110 yards on to the green; dunk it in the trap; play it out; and then putt, putt, putt!
BLUE TEES @ RIVERWAY BRUTAL
Sunny kept saying, “You will get me in trouble with Chang Lim; he would think that it is my idea to play the Blue Tees!”
Apparently, there was a lot of grumbling throughout the 18 holes at yesterday’s Birdie Hunters tournament. More than that, we could see at a distance smoke coming out of a golfer in red with a red-white umbrella. It was soooooo hooooooot yesterday but it seems the smoke was from a smoldering fellow who swore it was his last time playing the blues.
However, it did not seem to bother Kiichi Kumagai. Last week from the white tees, he had an 89. Now from the blues, he sizzled with an 85 and claimed 1st prize on the money pot.
Harry, playing in the same foursome, was only 5 over par until the 9th when he “self-destructed” with a triple bogie! Vincent did the same thing with a 9 on the 7th hole. There was really no reason for Chang to complain. He beat Harry in the back 9!
